Vincent knows he's not the most charming of the Moretti brothers. He prefers brooding to flirting, reading to talking, and he sure as hell isn't about to give into his mother's insistence that he 'settle down with a nice girl.' Luckily, Vincent's gig as one of the NYPD's top homicide detectives keeps him busy. As does his long-time partner, Jill Henley–a tough-as-nails cop with the face of an angel and smart mouth that makes Vincent crazy in all the worst ways.

After six years of working the homicide beat with the tight-lipped Vincent Moretti, Jill figure she knows him better than anyone. Which is not at all. But when their most recent case points to a potential serial-killer situation, the higher-ups send them on a rare undercover mission to a place no NYPD officer dares go: the Upper Eastside.

Now the bureau's most antagonistic set of partners is posing as Mr. and Mrs. Brooks of Park Avenue. Spending 24/7 in the suspect's territory brings them closer and closer to their killer . . . and closer to each other. Soon Vincent and Jill are playing good cop/bad cop in and out of bed, and Jill's falling hard. But can she convince Vincent to give her a shot as partner in life, as well as at the bureau?

My Review

I really liked the second book in this series and I could not wait to get to know another member of the Moretti family. I loved this family, they are some really nice nosy. They can't see make mistakes the others and shut up, parents should intervene.
Jill and Vincent are a perfect and well-matched couple: she is the good cop, friendly, funny, he is the bad one, grumpy, who never smiles. Jill has always been in love with Vincent but he has never noticed her. She had to take care of her mother and was three months away. She returns happily engaged. The problem is that she still loves Vincent. Is not the case to give up and find someone that really love her? The three months away have made it clear to Vincent what really feels for her?
Jill is a charming and smiling policewoman, the person that knows Vincent better than anyone after spending six years at his side. Vincent is a great cop but has a really tough character and above all is very shy, can't make it clear to Jill his true feelings.
This is the third book in the series, each one may be enjoyed as a stand alone novel but for more enjoyment read the whole series
This story is really well written and the dialogue is really brilliant and witty.  I find there to be great dialogue, lots of chemistry, plenty of humor and some sweet romance.
If you are looking for a cute and funny book then you need to read this one.

"Charming, witty, and fun. There's no better read. I enjoyed every word!" --- Debbie Macomber, #1 New York Times bestselling author on No Better Man

STOP RUNNING . . .AND START FALLING

For Ruby James the Walker Mountain Ranch is her safe haven. Here in Aspen, Colorado, she can finally build a quiet life for herself without fear of her old one rearing its ugly head. Or so Ruby thinks. Any single woman would be happy to indulge a tall, dark, and curious cop-but the closer Ruby gets to him, the closer she gets to losing her newfound peace.

Police officer Sawyer Hawkins is no stranger to secrets. He's ready to leave town for good until a security threat brings him back to Walker Ranch, and Ruby's gorgeous green eyes soon have him second-guessing his decision to go. Her kindness and quiet strength awaken feelings he'd thought long buried, even as her reluctance to talk about her past worries him. The cop in Sawyer only wants the truth-but the man in him wants Ruby in his arms forever . . .

My Review

As soon as I started reading this one, I could not put it down. The author hooks you from the start. Well, she hooked me anyway. It 's a really addictive novel with well-developed and very realistic characters with which is easy to be in tune. It 's a funny story but with some sad and tormented moments.
Ruby and Sawyer must constantly come to terms with their past. Ruby works at the Walker Mountain Ranch, here she finally has found a place she can call home and has found for the first time real friends. She also has a crush on Sawyer, the local policeman, but a man of law will be able to accept her secrets? Sawyer has had a very difficult time, the only way to forget his past is to leave Aspen and move to Denver. But he really likes Ruby. Is she the right woman to start to believe again in love?
Ruby is a strong woman, but very hurt and tormented by her past. She never had a family and had never known true love even if she is sure that it exists. Sawyer is a loyal man, respect the law for him is crucial. His failed marriage had left deep marks on his heart. He will hardly be able to love someone again. But Ruby is so sweet, so innocent that maybe can give her an opportunity.
It's the third book in the series but I did not need to read books one and two to have an understanding of the story. But I did enjoy this book and I look forward to reading the others in the series.
This romance is an easy read, the writing is smooth, and the pages fly by effortlessly. The author does a great job in vividly describing the ranch, town and surrounding landscape, she makes you feel like you are actually there.
I have no hesitation in recommending it highly.

Review & Giveaway: Three Weeks to Wed by Ella Quinn

Three Weeks to Wed
by Ella Quinn

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Historical Romance (Regency)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

In the first book of her dazzling new series, bestselling author Ella Quinn introduces the soon-to-be Earl and Countess of Worthington--lovers who have more in common than they yet know. The future promises to be far from boring…

Lady Grace Carpenter is ready to seize the day--or rather, the night--with the most compelling man she's ever known. Marriage would mean losing guardianship of her beloved siblings, and surely no sane gentleman will take on seven children not his own. But if she can have one anonymous tryst with Mattheus, Earl of Worthington, Grace will be content to live out the rest of her life as a spinster.

Matt had almost given up hope of finding a wife who could engage his mind as well as his body. And now this sensual, intelligent woman is offering herself to him. What could be more perfect? Except that after one wanton night, the mysterious Grace refuses to have anything to do with him. Amid the distractions of the Season he must convince her, one delicious encounter at a time, that no obstacle--or family--is too much for a man who's discovered his heart's desire…

"Oh, the tangled webs we weave…especially when our hearts are involved. Three Weeks to Wed is a delightfully heartwarming escape into the sparkling world of the Regency.  Ella Quinn weaves magic." --Cathy Maxwell, New York Times bestselling author

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Review:
It 's a quick and light read, a fun pursuit of love.
Grace finds refuge from a thunderstorm with Mattheus, Earl of Worthington, a man who had almost married a few years earlier. She knows that  will never find someone willing to marry her and take care of her numerous siblings. So she decides to indulge in a night of love and live forever in the memory of it. But runs away before she finds out that Matt is determined to marry her. He searches her desperately and she continually avoids him.
Matt has realized that he can no longer live without Grace, is willing to do anything to have her. Grace is very shy, a responsible girl who is taking care of her younger siblings but when it comes to love becomes really childish. They are a great couple, the chemistry is very good lacks only a little more tension between them.
I love big families and I immediately attached to this one, I had great fun reading the interactions between Grace's siblings and are curious to know them better, I hope there are other books of this series with them as protagonists.
Light, friendly, and easy to get into the story. It 's a good read for a break from routine.
EXCERPT:
Rising, he donned his dressing gown, walked down the corridor, then opened the door to her chamber. Empty. Nothing to even indicate she’d been there.
The clock on the mantel showed five o’clock. He went back to his room and tugged the bellpull. In a few minutes, the boots brought hot water for him to shave.
Matt waited until the water was poured into the basin. “The lady who was here last evening, is she downstairs?”
“I donno, my lord. Ain’t seen no lady,” the lad mumbled, and left.
Matt finished dressing and descended the stairs. His groom, Mac, was in the common room eating. “Where are the others?”
Mac finished chewing and swallowed. “Gone, my lord. Their coach ain’t in the yard.”
Something wasn’t right. Why would she have left and not told him? “Be ready to leave in half an hour.”
He looked around for the landlord and, not finding him, entered the parlor. Covered dishes set on the table, with one place setting. He wished he was sharing the meal with her and conversing as they had the night before. Hell. He wanted to be in a warm bed with her next to him.
Mr. Brown knocked on the door before entering. “My lord, you was wishful of seeing me?”
Finally, Matt would get some answers. “Yes, I want to know the lady’s name.”
The innkeeper opened his eyes wide. “What lady, my lord?”
Matt bit the inside of his lip and tried to keep from losing his temper. “The lady who was here last night. The one I shared dinner with.”
The landlord started backing out of the parlor, shaking his head. “Weren’t no lady here, my lord.”
Book Blitz & Giveaway: Give Us a Chance by Allie Everhart
Give Us a Chance
Allie Everhart
(The Wheeler Brothers, #2)
Publication date: March 12th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance
Jake Wheeler doesn’t date. He has a one and done rule. Some would say he’s a player but he disagrees. He’s always upfront with a girl, letting her know he’s not interested in a relationship. That is until he meets Ivy.
A talented carpenter who can hold her own on a construction site, Ivy worked for Jake last summer. He asked her out but she turned him down. Now, months later, Jake is ready to try again. He can’t get this girl out of his head and he needs to figure out why. When he asks her out he assumes she’ll say no again, so he’s shocked when she actually says yes.
After the first date, Jake knows he’s in trouble. Ivy is actually someone he could see himself being with, for a lot longer than a night. But what Jake doesn’t know is that Ivy’s only going out with him to prove she’s not the girl for him. She’s dated his type before and doesn’t want to do it again. But is Jake really the player she thinks he is? And if not, is she willing to trust him with her heart?
Author’s Note: Give Us a Chance is a standalone and book two of The Wheeler Brothers, a series of standalone novels that each feature a different brother. Next to Me, featuring Jake’s older brother, Nash, is book one.
EXCERPT:
Jake
I haven’t even said a word to her and my heart’s already beating faster. I feel nervous, and I’m never nervous. Even when I was doing all those interviews on TV last fall, I never got nervous.
“Hey, Ivy,” I say, trying to sound cool and relaxed.
“No,” she says, keeping her head down as she picks up a piece of sandpaper.
“No what?”
“No, I’m not going out with you.”
Shit. How did she know that’s why I came over here?
“I didn’t ask,” I say.
“No, but you were about to.” She leans down more, lightly sanding the edge of the book in her picture, creating the look of pages. Damn, that’s incredible. I’m seriously amazed by her talent.
“I was just coming over to say hello,” I tell her. “We haven’t talked since the Victorian. How have you been?”
“Good.” She flips her ponytail to her other shoulder, exposing her neck. I’d love to run my lips down that neck. Down that smooth, perfect skin. My eyes shift down to her shirt, a black v-neck t-shirt that fits close to her body.
“Was that it?” She catches me staring at her breasts and stands up, looking annoyed with me. That’s just great. I’ve been here less than a minute and already screwed this up.
“Good? That’s all you have to say?”
She sets the sandpaper down and crosses her arms over her chest. “What do you want to know?”
“How was your Christmas?”
She’s staring at me like that’s the lamest question ever asked. Considering Christmas was weeks ago, it is a lame question, but it’s the first thing that popped in my head.
“Let me guess,” I say, since she hasn’t answered. “It was good.”
She starts to smile, but then quickly shuts it down. “Yeah.” She shrugs. “Actually, that’s a lie. It sucked. But it’s like that every year so…” Her voice trails off and when she sees the questioning look on my face, she explains, “My mom died at Christmas. It was years ago, but still.”
“Shit, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have asked.” I rake my hand through my hair, which I tend to do when I’m nervous or uncomfortable.
“It’s okay. You didn’t know.” She smiles slightly, but then it disappears again. “Well, I need to get back to work.”
Why is she always telling me to get lost? I know she doesn’t have a boyfriend. I need to try this again, using a different approach. Nash and Callie are right. My usual techniques aren’t going to work this time.
“So do you like to eat?” I ask.
It’s such a strange question that she laughs a little. “Yeah. Why?”
“Let’s go out tonight. It’s on me.”
“I told you I’m not going out with you.”
“It’s not a date. It’s just two people eating dinner. You said you like to eat, right?”
“And if I were to say yes, which I’m not, where would you take me?”
I pause to think. “A little place just down the street from here.”
“Titiana’s? The Mexican place?”
“No.”
“Marco’s Italian?”
I shake my head. “No. This place serves American food.”
“Just tell me.”
“It’s a little place called…” I pause for dramatic effect. “Burger King.”
She bursts out laughing, which is what I was hoping for. I wanted to hear her laugh. I like her laugh. “Burger King? That’s where you’d take a girl on a date?”
“It’s not a date, remember? And what’s wrong with Burger King? Flame-broiled burgers. And you get to have it your way. Extra pickles. No mustard. Whatever you want.”
She laughs again. I’ve decided this is my approach with her. Humor. And saying the unexpected. It seems to be working.
“I can’t go there,” she says. “I’m vegan.”
“Really? I didn’t know that. So we’ll go somewhere else. Where do vegans eat?”
“I’m not going out with you, Jake.”
“Is it because of the jacket?” I glance down at it. “Because I have other jackets if this one offends you.”
She gives me a funny look like she doesn’t know what I mean.
“It’s leather,” I say. “I assumed if you’re vegan you don’t like leather?”
“Oh, um, yeah.” She nods. “That’s right. No leather.”
I smile. “So I’ll switch coats and meet you there at six.”
“Sorry, but it’s not happening.” She turns back to her project.
I’ll have to try again later. At least I’m getting somewhere with her. I got her to laugh, so that was a start.
Review & Giveaway: Jackson's Trust by Violet Duke
Jackson's Trust
Fourth Down #1
By: Violet Duke
Releasing March 8th, 2016
Loveswept
Blurb
New York Times bestselling author Violet Duke kicks off her fun and sexy new Fourth Down series with a heartwarming friends-to-lovers romance between a no-strings-attached sports analyst and the hottest damn tomboy he’s ever met.
It’s no secret that sports analyst Jackson Gray doesn’t do relationships. What is a secret, however, is the reason why. Jackson’s life is . . . complicated. And it doesn’t help that his current hands-off “friendship” is with the cute-as-hell new sideline reporter he’s assigned to train. Turns out, not only is the woman damn sweet, she also knows as much about football as he does. Like it or not though, Jackson has to remind himself that sex is the only thing he has to offer . . . until now.
Leila Hart’s fast-growing friendship with Jackson is something she’d never risk, no matter how unbelievably seductive the reward. Becoming an NFL sportscaster has always been the goal, and thanks to Jackson’s fierce support and mentoring, it all finally seems within reach. Problem is, a girl can only take so much of that sexy-as-sin voice whispering dirty, filthy football stats in her ear before she loses all self-control. A workplace romance with Jackson is a disaster waiting to happen, especially for someone with big dreams . . . and secrets of her own.
My Review
It 's a romance fresh, romantic, funny, sexy, very addictive, it's really hard to put it down until you have discovered the secret of Jackson.
Jackson and Leila have a common passion for football. She wants to become a reporter for the NFL, but for a woman it is not easy to enter in this world. Jackson works in her department and is almost her boos. Right from the start the chemistry between them is very strong. But Jackson never mixes work and private life. He also hides a secret that doesn't allow him to have a relationship that goes beyond the simple sex. It born a beautiful friendship and he tries to help her realize her dream. But they are likely to fall in love seriously. Leila is special, different from all the women he has known and perhaps caused him to want to have a family, someone to share his life. But is really worth ruin their beautiful friendship?
Leila and Jackson are great characters and it was very funny to watch them interact. They both afraid to open their hearts and are tormented by their own secrets. Leila is a strong woman, determined, very combative. Jackson is sweet, generous, ready to help others.
It 's the first book I read by  Violet Duke and certainly not be the last. I really like her style, she manages keeps you enthralled and engrossed throughout the book.
This is such an enjoyable story, well written in an easy-to-read style which is just what I need at the end of a busy day. The story is exciting, thrilling, enchanting, sensual and romantic. It is a great romance accompanied with humor, passion and a veil of mystery.
Highly recommended
After a two-month separation, Anton is ready to walk into Amelia's life again, but is Amelia ready to fan the spark they shared into a flame?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My Review

I have read the paranormal series by Stephanie Burkhart "Moldavian Moon", I liked it a lot and I couldn't wait to read this one. It 's a historical paranormal romance, well written with a romantic  sweet and tormented love story but also full of adventure, action and suspense.
Anton has yet to learn how to handle the terrible influence that the moon has over him, must be able to tame the beast inside him that would come out. When he falls in love with Amelia, a gentle pianist widow, the problem becomes even greater. He must often be away from her. She is very confused, disappointed, she doesn't know whether to trust him, but is very much in love. When he reveal his secret will she love him even to the point of spending a lifetime together?
Amelia and Anton are a great couple, the chemistry between them is really special. Anton is tormented, frail but willing to do anything to save Amelia, even risking his lives. Amelia was once already betrayed and hurt, trust is essential for her but how can trust a man who disappears for two months? The love she feels for Anton is stronger than fear?
I really like this author, with her descriptions she manages to create magical atmosphere, knows how to make perfectly the idea of tension, suspense, love. It 's easy to imagine yourself there, in the early 1900s to eat goulash, to suffer along with Anton and Amelia. Great choice of the setting, Budapest is a city so charming and full of mystery, perfect for this werevolf history: as the protagonist this city has two sides, Buda and Pest, the old town and modern city.
Although it is the second book in the series it can be read as a standalone
I recommend it to everybody who is not very fond of the paranormal genre.

EXCERPT:

"Amelia, to be honest about my intentions, I want to court you."

"Court me?" She stepped back.

He grabbed her wrist, as if desperate to keep her near him. His eyes impaled her, making her breathless. Was it too soon to think of always and forever with him? Had he really changed? Her heart believed so. Now, she just had to convince her head.

"I have no one to ask for permission, but you. Search your heart. I care for you deeply. I want to explore this, Amelia, but only if you do. I swear I'm ready for this."

Her lips trembled as she stepped forward, moved by the conviction in his voice. Dare she fall in love again? The chance was worth it. "Yes."

"Thank you." He wrapped his arms around her, infusing her with his warmth. She melted against the length of his body, savoring the contact. It felt right.

He parted from her, placed his hands on her upper arms, and looked at her. "The feelings I have when I'm near you are nothing like I've had before, but--"

"Go on." She prompted when he delayed too long.

"But I have a secret, too -- a secret that chokes me when I think of telling you."

"Anton--" A secret?

He held up his hand. "Let me finish. I promise to tell you, but I can't right now. I can only give you clues."

"Really?"

"You must accept this, Amelia. I know it may be unusual, but it's the only way I can think of to be honest with you."

Taken off guard, she faced him. Anton's full lips and smoldering eyes riveted her to him. In fact, his looks were everything she was attracted to in a man, but it all came down to trust. Could she trust him? If she said yes to him right now, then she was giving him her trust, which included his secret.

"How many clues do you have?"

"Three. Once you know my secret, if you want to break our courtship, you can. I'll understand."

Her body shivered. Was his secret dangerous? Even if it was, did she care? A part of her just wanted to throw herself into his arms and let come what may. Another part of her told her to keep her feet firmly on the ground.
