This mystery is a total page turner, is so full of twists, unexpected events, disappearances. From the first pages it had captured my attention, is exciting and unpredictable, it is really difficult to find the culprit before the end
Kristan "Stan" Connor is a great pastry, her specialties are foods for animals. She wants to expand her activities and open her first own store. Sheldon Allyn, the famous pastry chef, has decided to help her. To better define their agreements invites her to a special event in Newport, Rhode Island, where together with other famous pastry chefs, Stan will cook for some sponsors. If they can satisfying them they will be incorporated into a TV show. Stan has to deal with the demands of a fussy Siamese cat. Luckily she has brought with her her cat Nutty as a taster. The event is held in a breathtaking seaside villa and Stan is eager to see again the ocean. So she moves away from the group but she finds a dead man. He's one of the most famous pastry chefs participants. Who killed him? While police carries out investigations, the participants are forced don't leave Newport and go ahead with the project. But others pastry chefs disappear and Stan's sister contact her in an obvious state of agitation.
Stan has recently moved to Frog Ledge, Connetcticut but now feels at home and doesn't want to move anymore. Not even to realize her dream of opening her own store of pet's pastries. One of the reasons why she loves this city is her boyfriend Jack. He's a sweet and charming man and they have a really good relationship. I like their evenings on the couch surrounded by their animal friends. The author has created a really well-matched cast, all the characters are well defined and the animals are adorable.
It's the fourth book in the series, but can also be read as a stand alone, during the story, the author provides the information needed to understand the characters and their past.
