Synopsis:
It’s autumn in the Cotswolds, and Chef Maurice is facing a problem of mushrooming proportion.
Not only has his wild herb and mushroom supplier, Ollie Meadows, missed his weekly delivery—he’s missing vital signs too, when he turns up dead in the woods near Beakley village.
Soon, Chef Maurice is up to his nose in some seriously rotten business—complete with threatening notes, a pignapping, and an extremely well-catered stake-out.
Can he solve Ollie’s murder before his home-made investigation brings the killer out for second helpings?

My review:

Although I don't like mushrooms and hate truffles, it  was really a pleasant read, fun, full of laughter. There are some funny scenes too: imagine Chef Maurice with his French accent that curses the God of the lost tools of the kitchen or while makes wresling with a pig for a quarrel truffle ........
Chef Maurice is the proprietor and the head chef of Le Cochon Rouge, in Beakley, a small British town. He's desperate because his supplier mushroom Ollie, a local researcher, is delayed. Try to go looking for him at his home but cann't find him. He would  take his supply in the fridge but is blocked by Lucy, the local cop. Stubborn as is,  he decides to return secretly at night to take his mushrooms but what he finds instead is a precious white truffle of Alba, worth thousands of pounds. Ollie unfortunately is found dead and Chef Maurice with his friend Arthur decides to investigate.  Will the precious truffle be responsible for the death of Ollie?
Chef Maurice and the other characters in this story are well developed, bizarre and fun. Maurice is a great chef but is gruff, should never be contradicted.
It 's a fun and  engaging cozy mystery, an easy, fast and exciting reading. I read it in one day, I could not put it down.
It 's the first book in a new series and I can't wait to reading another hilarious adventure of  Chef Maurice.
I recommend it to those who love the cozy mystery, especially those with culinary references.
