Synopsis:
Justin Haas and Alyse Mosell have been best friends since they were ten years old, and more than a decade later not much has changed. After a bitter break up with her fiancé, Alyse moves in with Justin to mend her life and her broken heart. But, one night of drinking and harmless flirting soon morphs into a passion that’s been simmering under the surface for years. One of them is willing to take a chance on romance; the other is trying to take their heart and run. And it will take nothing short of a Christmas miracle to keep their friendship – and what could be love – from falling apart around them.
EXCERPT
He paused, taking in the
sight of her for a moment. The cigarette was odd because she quit the year
before, just before she stopped hanging out with him as much in favor of
spending time with her ex. But what really had his attention was her
outfit.
Her profile was facing him
as she watched passersby on the sidewalk, many of whom were staring at the
great expanse of beautiful, rich brown skin encased in the sexy Santa Claus get
up she’d been forced to wear tonight. She wore a tight, scarlet strapless
dress, the material soft and velvety, and the short, fur-trimmed cape tied at
her neck served as little more than flimsy decoration. A thick black belt that
looked more like a corset encased her tiny waist. The belt followed the flare
of her full hips where a flouncy red skirt, made all that much shorter because
of the lacy petticoats underneath, completed her barely-there look. Her short,
toned legs were encased in fur trimmed black boots, one bent with the spiked
heel digging against the railing while the other supported her weight. On her
head was a fur-trimmed cap, keeping her angled black bob close to her face and
shielding her cat eyes from his view. She must have been freezing, but her
jacket was draped over the railing, and the horny guy in him was okay with
that. Less fabric covering up the enticing view.
