BLURB:
Raised
by a single mother in London ,
Anna Harris was surprised to find out her father was the business mogul, Oliver
Bolles. Deciding to follow in his footsteps, she used her brilliant ability
with numbers to secure a sought after position in a London brokerage house. Disillusioned by the
lack of integrity, Anna decides to seek a more fulfilling career and
unknowingly throws herself into the path of an old obsession, Alistair Martin.
Finding it difficult to endure the emotional scars of being abandoned by her
father and then taken advantage of by a devious boyfriend, Anna avoids serious
relationships until she is challenged to do something she has never done.
Alistair Martin is a hot,
obscenely wealthy vineyard owner with a razor sharp business mind who pursues
Anna out of curiosity and decides to invest into her failing events management
company. He was raised in poverty until he was a teenager and his father’s
family brought him into the fold. Anna is not what he expects and he has to
change his game plan if he hopes to convince the secret heiress to let down her
guard enough to leap into a wild affair.

My Review:
It was an intriguing and engaging reading, very sentimental but also funny and touching. The plot is strong and well developed, flowing beautifully, there are several twists, witty and great dialogues and lovable and interesting charcters.
Anna is tired of her previous life. She works in the financial world thanks to her famous father, she's good at what she does but she needs to change her activity. She wants to start a new life away from the influence of her father. Maybe it's a mistake, but for the first time an her mistake. She sells her super luxury apartment to get one more modest in a periferical quarter and starts a new business about organization of events. Her new company is very small and urgently needs funding. The only one who can help it is Alistair Martin, her adolescent crush. They had a passionate encounter some years ago but he was moved away as soon as he found out she was the younger sister of Olivia. Will she save her new business and keep safe her heart?
Anna grew up having to fulfill the expectations of her mother, a person who only cares about appearances. Her father was an important and rich man, but had a double life, his family in London, a daughter grew up in Ireland with a governess and a wife and a son in New York. This doesn't help Anna to trust men, especially Alastair Martin, an intelligent and awesome guy who only interested in money and live idly. But the chemistry between them is really strong, hard to resist.
This is the second book in the series but I do not believe it is essential to have read the first to enjoy this one.
I love this author, her writing is crisp, clear, flawless, and her story-telling is brilliant. I really loved this book from cover to cover
If you enjoy reading sweet romance, then definitely pick this up!

EXCERPT:
The following week, Anna arrived at the five star hotel
early for the pitch session. A man dressed conservatively greeted her and
brought her to a conference room. Mentally reviewing the list of requirements
for the pitch session, she attempted to organize her thoughts. She had emailed
the presentation and documents ahead of time and was ready to give the short
presentation on Gala & More. She had been told to expect eight to ten
investors in the room for her pitch and when she checked in, the assistant gave
her the list of names.
Her heart plummeted when she scanned the list.
“Is everything okay, Ms. Bolles?”
Nodding her head, she tried to take in a deep breath. Why
would Alistair Martin be on the list? How could she be so unlucky that he would
choose her pitch to evaluate? She was doomed. There was no way she could
precede with the pitch. He would never take her seriously.
Anna had been at Gala
& More for two weeks. She had no real experience with event management. He
would rake her over the coals.
Waiting in line to go in, she tried to dispel a feeling of
dread. She wanted to whisper an excuse to the assistant organizing the
presenters and slip out of the hotel. But she needed to show confidence if she
was to have any chance of securing the much needed funding. She reminded
herself that she had been in difficult situations before where she had to prove
herself and counteract everyone’s belief that she had been successful because
of the Bolles name.
When the overseer nodded to her, she pretended a confidence
she didn’t feel. She visualized Frances holding her beautiful baby girl and
reminded herself that much was riding on this ten minute session.
She wore a fitted charcoal linen dress with sheer stockings
and expensive heels. Her long hair was up in a twist. Her goal was to look
professional yet stylish. She had practiced her pitch several times and hoped
the words would flow and the investors would be inclined to select Gala &
More.
Anna opened the door and avoided eye contact with Alistair.
She could see the seven men seated behind a massive wood table and chose a
point just above their heads to focus on. The room had been set up with a smart
board, laptop and a pitcher of water and a glass.
The business plan she had created was printed and bound, set
neatly in front of each potential investor.
There was a technician off to the side, ready to place a
microphone on her. She stood patiently and collected her thoughts while he
hooked up the connections and handed her a remote to control the presentation.
The splash screen had Gala & More on it and she pressed
the button to advance the slide.
“Hello, gentleman. My name is Anna Bolles and I’m pitching
for Gala & More today.”

RispondiEliminaHow did you decide on the concept for your book?
RispondiEliminaHi Helen,
EliminaI knew something about the main character before I came up with the concept. The series focuses on the Bolles family and what happens when scandals from long ago play out in various lives. The main character, Anna Bolles, inherits her father's mathematical abilities but decides to choose a different life. She needs to find someone who is not only strong but willing to believe in her.
Thanks for the question.

My daughter is very interested in writing. What advice could you provide to her?
RispondiEliminaHi Jenny,
EliminaIt would depend on her age. I have teenagers and I'm always encouraging them to write. I remind them that writing is really re-writing and even an experienced writer will re-write a sentence or scene a dozen times. You have to continue to polish. I also share ideas with them about plot, structure and building characters.
If your daughter is an adult - the best advice is to keep putting words on a page and reading books on craft. Becoming a proficient writer is about getting yourself to write every day even if it is just 500 words. There is a tremendous amount to know once you finish a novel but for anyone starting out - it is about spending time writing every day.
I wish her luck!
Susie
