BLURB:

the annual office party. Mia worries her trust in Jake, the company playboy,
may place her heart and reputation at risk.

My Review:
It 's a short story, funny, romantic but also sexy and hot.
Mia and Jack are colleagues, is some time that are attracted to each other but they never found the courage or the chance to express their feelings. The right time comes to an office party where both occur unaccompanied. Their attraction, however, has to deal with bets from colleagues. Are they able to live peacefully their story?
I really liked the alternation of perspective, in the various chapters, of Mia and Jack: they are the ones who tell their torture, their anxieties and fears but also their passion.
All the characters are lovely and funny. Jack is a sexy guy but sweet and kind, My girl is insecure and a little clumsy. Very nice their colleagues.
I recommend it to those who want a quick read but very entertaining and relaxing

EXCERPT:
“Were you planning to stay until the bitter end tonight?”
Mia asked.
“Not really. What about you?”
“No. I’m not much of a night owl.”
Jake smiled. “You always did strike me as more of a morning
person. While most people are still trying to get their coffee to kick in,
you’ve sent out a dozen emails and left messages for half the people you need
things from, haven’t you?”
She smiled back, pleased that he’d noticed. “Yeah, well, I
do my best thinking first thing in the morning. I can’t help it if you slackers
can’t keep up.”
“Oh, I didn’t say I couldn’t keep up. I’m usually rolling in
from the track after running three miles a couple times each week.” He leaned
closer and dropped his voice into that sexy tone she loved so much. “I’m a
morning person too. I just tend to be more physical than mental in the early
morning hours.”
“Oh.” A ripple of warmth flowed through her body as images
of how many different ways he could be physical in the morning ran through her
head. Wouldn’t that be a lovely start to the day?
Jake chuckled. “You want to get out of here?”
She shook off her rated-X thoughts. “Sorta. Running around
the office party half-dressed is not how I’d imagined the evening would go.”
She grimaced. “But since I came with Robin and Mandy, I won’t be able to go
until they’re ready.”
“If it makes you feel any better, the casual observer can’t
tell you’re not wearing anything under your dress.” He slipped one hand around
her waist and pulled her against him, making his erection noticeable. He
whispered into Mia’s ear, “I, however, have been extremely distracted for the
last couple of hours.”
