The Shadow Soul
The Trailokya Trilogy #1
By- K. Williams
Genre- Epic Fantasy
The Shadow Soul is the first part of The Trailokya Trilogy, a fantasy series that follows the rise and fall of fabled races and souls at the junction of three worlds: Zion, Earth and Jahannam. K. Williams weaves a tale that will leave you questioning long held convictions about the human legends of Heaven and Hell. Are you ready to enter the gates of Zion and learn the truth?
Captain Maiel is a duta warrior of Zion, a race of giant, winged guardians and chroniclers of the lesser souls. Maiel’s assurances are shaken when she nearly loses a young human girl to the dark forces of Jahannam, the prison realm where the lowest beings reside. To avoid answering to the leaders of her world, Maiel seeks refuge on Earth, but she is pursued by a baron of Jahannam intent on destroying her. Can she be saved before time runs out? Or will she be sacrificed to secure the borders of Zion and to hide the lie her journey uncovers?
With each step further into darkness, long held secrets are revealed and shadows rise from the past to challenge absolutes.

The water of the spring moved around her sleek form as she swam, unaware of the watcher. He caught a glimpse of her crimson head bobbing above the stone ring. Something squirmed and whimpered at Gediel’s side, reminding him of why he’d dared to come there in the first place.
He scooped up the white fur ball and smiled. Argus, a wolf soul, was just weaned and already endeavoring to roam away to his own pack. His iron-blue eyes sparked mischievously. Gediel snorted, a quick, light sound that startled the puppy. Argus’s ears pricked and he anxiously grumbled.
Regaining his confidence, he licked Gediel’s hand. He was perfect for the job. Argus was the most handsome, loyal, and brave pup ever to grace his packs, at least since his sire, Chiron. The seventh born in the alpha litter, he would bring great luck to his companions once his eyes were gold and his legs were long.
“Argus,” Gediel whispered. “This is where you’ll make your new home.”
Gediel lay back on his stomach and showed the pup the view through the tangled brush. Argus stared intently for a brief moment, squirming to get back on his own feet. He had befriended some young Naiades who lived in the stream near their den, and the sloshing of the water made him
think of them. Gediel gave him a hard stare and the pup relaxed. He set him in the grass and the pup cocked his head. Gediel pushed back a lock of his own shaggy hair. He wanted to see the wolf clearly and remember the moment perfectly. Leaving this particular soul would be difficult, but
it was worth every pang to be sure his friend was safe and her order well equipped for battle.
“You see the duta? She’s an erela—a—a girl, like your Naiades friends.” Gediel pointed to the ring of stone. “But she needs you.”

RispondiEliminaJust this week, I found out that The Shadow Soul earned Honorable Mention in the Hollywood Book Festival! I am so thrilled!
This book sounds so good! Thanks for the giveaway!
RispondiEliminaThank you!
EliminaI love the cover!
RispondiEliminaThat cover was done by Scott Deyett of IHGraphics.com. There are a ton of layers and work in this piece. It's art! He is amazing. He took an image from the books (you'll actually run into the doors in books 2 and 3).
EliminaI wrote a brief article about the meaning: http://www.ecmooreauthor.com/#%21Trailokya-%E2%80%93-The-Shadow-Soul-%E2%80%93-What-the-Hell-Does-that-Door-Mean-By-K-Williams/c1q8z/559a091a0cf28e68712bd980
And of course that is Maiel's shield and sword on the left and the charcter Argus on the right.
The items on the back also have meaning to the book. Each of the trilogy will have a door and slightly altered set of images, creating a triptych.
