When Jamie Lang finds one of her hand lettered quotes on the window of her shop, Flourish, with a hole shot through a serif, she knows someone's trying to drive her business into red ink. Jamie confronts Earleen Culp, the ruthless owner of the local stationery shop, in front of the most popular breakfast spot in the small town of Cedar Valley. Of course, Earleen professes shock and innocence, so when she’s found dead in front of Jamie's home the next morning, Jamie becomes the prime suspect.
Jamie's one cross-stroke short of acquittal, and even her best friend has her doubts. But Jamie's not the only one in town with a motive for wanting Earleen silenced for good. To clear her name, Jamie's going to need every last drop of ink in her quill.
With the hot police chief Ridge, and her makeup artist friend Nora on her side, she’s prepared to go out with a flourish if that's what it takes to catch the real murderer. She’s desperate to save her hand lettering business, but will her quest lead her right into a killer’s snare?

My Review
A few months ago I discovered the hand lettering and I was very fascinated, I am practicing every day but I am still far behind. So as soon as I saw the cover and read the plot I couldn't wait to read it and I wasn't disappointed.
Jamie loves making others happy and to do this she has created her shop Florish, a real treat. She always has a fair quote for everyone, enriched by her splendid calligraphy. After a disagreement with her rival, she is found killed and of course Jamie is the main suspect. She will try to find the real culprit and save her business: for everyone she is a murderer and her business is going bad.
The characters are a bit bizarre but very realistic they make life in Cedar Valley as stimulating and enjoyable as friends and clients of Jamie and Ridge, the police chief. But there are also terrible, gossipy and arrogant people. Jamie doesn't like to wake up early and needs a strong dose of coffee before being active and above all sociable. But she is a great artist and a great friend and it was a real pleasure to read the story told by her.
The Cedar Valley map is really nice and the attached hand lettering exercise is very useful.
It was a fast and fun read, the mystery was brilliant and intriguing, there is the right amount of suspense and romance and several twists that keep the reader's attention high.

Splendid debut for this series I look forward to the next episode
