When chefs Charly and Cliff Harding divorce, she gets custody of their upscale restaurant and its namesake, Felix, the cat. He gets custody of their dog, Oscar. What they both still have custody of is each other’s heart. But they seem to be the only two people in the small ski resort town of Snow Lake, Nevada, that don’t know it. When Cliff opens his own restaurant in direct competition with Charly, bad things start to happen. Death threats, accidents, and murder are now on the menu. Their ‘if-you-can’t-take-the-heat-then-get-out-of-the-kitchen’ battles are backfiring, and regrets consume the two of them. But can they find their way back to each other? Or is it too late? Because they just might spend the rest of their lives in prison unjustly accused of killing someone. Or can love triumph over even murder? My Review
The author is very good at capturing the reader's attention from the first few pages: the narrative point of view changes with each chapter, there is a lot of suspense and romance.
Charly and her husband Cliff are two excellent chefs, they run a restaurant Felix named as their cat and he also does a TV show. But Charly has decided to divorce. She got the complete management of their local and the entrusting of their cat while Oscar, the dog is entrusted to him. But love between them is still alive, they just have to find a way to make it resurface. In the meantime they are engaged in a war to be the best Snow Lake's chef and manage the consequences of all this.
I loved all the characters. Charly is sunny, patient, generous and with a strong sense of humor but also a little insecure. She loves cooking, cats and dogs. Cliff is a charming but very egocentric and demanding man. Secondary characters like Bernie and Julia, Cliff's sister, are also well developed and important.
An intriguing and well-developed storyline, a fast pace thanks to very short sentences, brilliant dialogues, complex characters and a really welcoming and fascinating setting, how can you not love this book?
I'm really curious to read Charly's upcoming adventures.
