My Review
I have read the paranormal series by Stephanie Burkhart "Moldavian Moon", I liked it a lot and I couldn't wait to read this one. It 's a historical paranormal romance, well written with a romantic sweet and tormented love story but also full of adventure, action and suspense.
Anton has yet to learn how to handle the terrible influence that the moon has over him, must be able to tame the beast inside him that would come out. When he falls in love with Amelia, a gentle pianist widow, the problem becomes even greater. He must often be away from her. She is very confused, disappointed, she doesn't know whether to trust him, but is very much in love. When he reveal his secret will she love him even to the point of spending a lifetime together?
Amelia and Anton are a great couple, the chemistry between them is really special. Anton is tormented, frail but willing to do anything to save Amelia, even risking his lives. Amelia was once already betrayed and hurt, trust is essential for her but how can trust a man who disappears for two months? The love she feels for Anton is stronger than fear?
I really like this author, with her descriptions she manages to create magical atmosphere, knows how to make perfectly the idea of tension, suspense, love. It 's easy to imagine yourself there, in the early 1900s to eat goulash, to suffer along with Anton and Amelia. Great choice of the setting, Budapest is a city so charming and full of mystery, perfect for this werevolf history: as the protagonist this city has two sides, Buda and Pest, the old town and modern city.
Although it is the second book in the series it can be read as a standalone
I recommend it to everybody who is not very fond of the paranormal genre.

EXCERPT:
"Amelia,
to be honest about my intentions, I want to court you."
"Court
me?" She stepped back.
He
grabbed her wrist, as if desperate to keep her near him. His eyes impaled her,
making her breathless. Was it too soon to think of always and forever with him?
Had he really changed? Her heart believed so. Now, she just had to convince her
head.
"I
have no one to ask for permission, but you. Search your heart. I care for you
deeply. I want to explore this, Amelia, but only if you do. I swear I'm ready
for this."
Her
lips trembled as she stepped forward, moved by the conviction in his voice.
Dare she fall in love again? The chance was worth it. "Yes."
"Thank
you." He wrapped his arms around her, infusing her with his warmth. She
melted against the length of his body, savoring the contact. It felt right.
He
parted from her, placed his hands on her upper arms, and looked at her.
"The feelings I have when I'm near you are nothing like I've had before,
but--"
"Go
on." She prompted when he delayed too long.
"But
I have a secret, too -- a secret that chokes me when I think of telling
you."
"Anton--"
A secret?
He
held up his hand. "Let me finish. I promise to tell you, but I can't right
now. I can only give you clues."
"Really?"
"You
must accept this, Amelia. I know it may be unusual, but it's the only way I can
think of to be honest with you."
Taken
off guard, she faced him. Anton's full lips and smoldering eyes riveted her to
him. In fact, his looks were everything she was attracted to in a man, but it
all came down to trust. Could she trust him? If she said yes to him right now,
then she was giving him her trust, which included his secret.
"How
many clues do you have?"
"Three.
Once you know my secret, if you want to break our courtship, you can. I'll
understand."
Her
body shivered. Was his secret dangerous? Even if it was, did she care? A part
of her just wanted to throw herself into his arms and let come what may.
Another part of her told her to keep her feet firmly on the ground.

RispondiEliminaJen, I wouldn't mind doing vampires, but I have to find a unique and creative spin before I just write a vampire story. I want to offer something different, in the vein of the Budapest Moon and Moldavian Moon series.
James, sorry about the snow. Hard to believe Spring has sprung, so to speak! What is the best joke I've heard lately? Why did the orange travel 1/2 down the hill? I'll come by later with the answer.
