BLURB:
Fighting
for his life after an ambush, Sheriff Josh Wellman awakes to find himself
looking into the eyes of a real-life angel of mercy. Despite his groggy
condition, he knows his life has changed the instant their hands touch.
Devastating heartbreak
has left Mercy Smith's faith in tatters, her heart guarded against more loss.
Her dedication to the air evac trauma team she leads has insulated her from the
realities of the earth below, so now Josh faces the biggest challenge of his
life.
Can he find a way around
the walls that fortify her heart and convince this angel to stay on the ground
with him? Can Mercy open herself to life again and find a way to restore her
faith in God ... as well as love?

My Review:
This romance is really fun, romantic, touching, surprisingly intense read. Since the first pages, I fell in love with the deep blue eyes of Josh, have come into his life and in that of Mercy and I did not want get out of them.
For Mercy the job the job is the most important thing. She is a rescuer and working on helicopters, often has to struggle against death to bring the wounded to their families. She knows very well that first aid are essential to save lives and believes that the prayers in these moments do not help: she did it twice and have never been answered. In a normal day on the job she happens to intervene on the scene of a shooting and to recue a sheriff seriously injured. Strangely, she becomes attached to this man. She can forget his blue eyes nor the heat emanating from his handshake.
Sheriff Josh Wellman has lost one of his men in heavy gunfire and to see the angelic face of Mercy on the helicopter helped him in the most difficult moment. He has shooked her hand with the little strength he had. He hopes that she would return. And she does it. He opens his eyes and she is there, by his bedside in intensive care. She's his angel and he has decided with all his strength to win her heart but will not be easy. Mercy has lost the man she loved a few years ago and has decided doesn't want to suffer anymore. She can not bear the pain of losing a loved one again. Will she be able to open her heart to Josh? Will she find again her faith?
This book was beautifully written, the storyline flowed perfect and the pace was very fast, never boring, a page leaded to another, it was impossible to put it down before the end. The characters were loveable, well developed and realistic, had so much depth that you felt as though you knew them. I loved all the scenes in which the two protagonists are together: they are tender and romantic. The way in which Josh tries to conquer and heal the heart of Mercy is really sweet and special.
It's a must-read for those who love contemporary romance, ideal as beach reading.

EXCERPT:
Mercy cast her gaze out the window. They were coming in low
and fast over endless stretches of farmland. Cotton fields bordered the
two-lane farm-to-market road, which as they approached, now resembled a river
of flashing red and blue lights stretching into a long ribbon. First
responders, paramedics, firefighters, and a myriad of law enforcement officers
rushed back and forth like a colony of hungry ants.
A large tractor-trailer rig sat at an awkward angle at the
intersection of two county roads. Its cab doors hung open with the large rear
door raised as well. Mercy could make out the figures of black-clothed DEA
officers, the letters emblazoned on the back of their vests, as they scrambled
over the truck.
The helicopter’s skids touched the ground a few yards from
the center of the intersection, kicking up a cloud of red dust. People shielded
their eyes as the medics, in their bright blue jumpsuits and helmets, exited the
doors the moment the aircraft landed. Guided by the collective motioning of the
crowd, Mercy and Paul ran toward the motionless body lying flat on a stretcher.
“Tell me.” Mercy spoke with clear authority, her eyes
already assessing the man lying before her. The paramedics gave his vitals and
their preliminary findings. Mercy took in the amount of blood loss evident on
the officer’s clothing. The khaki uniform she recognized as belonging to the
Powell County Sheriff’s Department had been shredded by bullet holes, then
ripped by the shears of the first-responder medical personnel in order to
minister to him. His Kevlar armor had shielded his main torso, but there were
still areas along his legs, lower torso, and arms that had not been so
protected. At first glance, she would have expected his wounds to be fatal
after such a vicious attack. His vitals were critical, and he needed
specialized help fast.

Born and raised
in the Lone Star state of Texas, Debra grew up among horses, cowboys, wide open

Debra’s real
pride and joys, however, are her son, an aspiring film actor, and a daughter
with aspirations to join the Federal Bureau of Investigation. (more story

Tech Red Raiders, or heading off on another cruise adventure. She read her first romance...Janet Dailey's
Fiesta San Antonio, over thirty years ago and became hooked on the genre.
Writing contemporary western romances,
is both her passion and dream come true, and she hopes her books will
