My Review:

I loved this book from the first page, the story was so compelling that really seemed to live in a small cottage in the English countryside.
Naomi has discovered that her whole life is made up of lies and wants to finally know her past, especially knowing her biological father. The diary that she found references to a painting in the room of her grandmother with an inscription in Gaelic and she impulsively leaves for England. She rents a small cottage and meets a strange man Oliver York, is lonely, owns a manor and is a painter, all the men of his family were. Is he linked to the picture of her grandmother?
All the characters are lovable and believable, I adored Annie, is so kind and welcoming. I can not help but love Oliver, a crossing between Hugh Grant and Colin Firth (my favorite actor!!!!).
I loved the setting, the descriptions of the places are really fascinating, the English countryside is beautiful even when it rains and it's cold. Just a fire, hot tea, some scones and the cold goes away.
It 's a sweet romance, funny  with romantic love story and with a little of mystery and suspense.
Highly recommended.

Brian’s riff ended to enthusiastic applause. Oliver glanced behind him as Brian slung the guitar over his back and took a bow. He tinkled away on the piano.

“Annie…earth to Annie.” Brian beckoned. You’re up next. Bring me a beer will you luv?”

“Let them have a request or two.” Annie lazily raised her half-full beer glass. Oliver grinned.

“Can ya’ play us Piano Man?” a bloke yelled.

Brian left the stage and shouldered his way to the bar. Oliver chuckled. Annie wouldn’t be hurried by anyone. If she had a beer to finish, then finish it she would. Even though she liked to joke with Brian, she remained quiet, even polite around him, but she let them all know an older lady deserved respect. He wondered if he’d ever had a real conversation with her. Probably not.

Oliver tinkled on the keys again, then moved closer to the mic next to the piano, his tone turning serious. He loved this tune. They knew he did. Almost every night when Annie went to the bar to wet her whistle with a pint, he’d get a request. Nine times out of ten for Piano Man.

He finished the song with a flourish. Applause filled the room. He’d put his heart into it tonight. Pride too, he supposed. He’d played it for Naomi. For all the possibilities that could have been once upon a time, in a different place, a different time, when he had different, or no obligations.
