A thousand-year-old secret room. A sultan’s stolen treasure. A missing French priest. And an invitation to Paris to rekindle an old flame….
Historian Jaya Jones finds herself on the wrong side of the law during an art heist at the Louvre. To redeem herself, she follows clues from an illuminated manuscript that lead from the cobblestone streets of Paris to the quicksand-surrounded fortress of Mont Saint-Michel. With the help of enigmatic Lane Peters and a 90-year-old stage magician, Jaya delves into France’s colonial past in India to clear her name and catch a killer.
My review:
A new adventure of Jaya Jones, is the third book in the series "A Jaya Jones Treasure Hunt Mystery" but may well be read as a stand alone.
Jaya teaches history at the university and she loves her job. It 's a bit that she doesn't have any news from Lane, a kind of boyfriend, when receives a letter from him with a ticket to Paris and a booking for a luxury hotel. Jaya is hoping for a romantic getaway instead finds herself involved in a robbery at the Louvre. To save her reputation she will have to investigate the theft and the mystery behind it. In her investigation she will be helped by Lane and by a strange ninety-years-old magician. The research will lead her to the spectacular Moint Saint-Michel.
Another book relates in some way toMoint Saint Michel: I'm falling in love ever more, I have to go. During these days there is a particular event, which occurs every 18 years: a difference between high and low tide of 14 meters. Wow !!!!
The author has been able to seamlessly integrate the historical background with elements of fiction (as she herself says in the notes). It 's full of twists, historical mysteries to solve, amazing and well developed characters.
This is the second book I read by Gigi Pandian, I have reviewed a few months ago The Accidental Alchemist and I liked it. I love even more this author.
It 's a book not to be missed for those who love mystery.
