Katelyn Michaels plans on hating every moment of her visit to Mont Saint Michel with her father's new French wife. Once there, she is confused when she experiences sensations of déjà vu as she and her younger brother explore the medieval village and abbey. She is even more disturbed when she is confronted by two unusual young men, one who insists she has a sacred mission, and the other who will stop at nothing, even murder, to stop her from fulfilling her destiny. When the oddly-dressed but alluring Nicolas slips Katelyn a strange medallion, she is whisked back through time where her Watchmen hosts tell her she is the only hope to save Mont Saint Michel. Even worse, she learns that those trying to destroy the mount are led by a fallen angel intent on learning the mount's closely-guarded secret. Katelyn is torn by feelings of anger at being taken back in time, inadequacy at finding a modern solution for a medieval problem, and responsibility for the mount's starving inhabitants. She is also perturbed by her surprising attraction to the ill-tempered Nicolas. Will she stay to learn why she was chosen by the Archangel Michael and find a way to save his mount?

My Review

I fell in love with this book from the first page. Once I started I could not put it down. I love everything about this romance: the characters, the beautiful places and landscapes in which the story takes place, the medieval France, legends and historical  and architectural references.
Katelyn Michaels is seventeen, has a younger brother very intelligent and studious, a father who abandoned his family for a French woman. Her stepmother forces them to a trip to Normandy. Katelyn hates her and hates having to go that far, in a remote village in the middle of the sea. But just see Mont Saint Michel is fascinated and also has a strange sense of deja vu, as if she was already there. She meets immediately a strange guy (dressed in a kind of tunic of wool) that delivers to her an ancient medallion. That will be the beginning of her adventure and the key that will bring in medieval France, during the Hundred Years War. Here she will  find Nicholas, the boy of the medallion and with his help will save the Montois, their fate is in her hands.
It 's written really good, it's engaging, charming, the different historical information that are provided are interesting and enrich the story without making it boring at all. It 's really a book full of suspense and twists and is multigenres: is a Ya, a mystery, a historical, paranormal and romantic novel. It 's also very fun to see how a girl of twenty-first century accustomed to all conveniences should deal with life in medieval times ......
I thank this book for introducing me to this country really fascinating, I hope to visit soon and as soon as possible to read the sequel of this story ....
I recommend this book to anyone who loves historical mysteries and time travel stories, is ideal  for teens but it is perfect for people of all ages.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review

  1. thanks so much for your awesome review for an awesome book!

  2. A wonderful review...the book looks like one I'd enjoy reading. A good historical book to've read so many that are good it's hard offhand to think of one. I like historical romances so the one by Julia Quinn or other authors of that type I enjoy. But that's just an example as I read about anything to be honest.
On a side note for the contest I tried to do the last entry, subscribe to the RSS feed and wasn't able to get anything other than the "tree" when I clicked the button. So I did not subscribe. I don't know if others have had that problem or not.

    1. I love Julia Quinn too, in particular Bridgertons series!!!

  3. Veronica,

And there will be a third book as well. Happy reading!

    1. Thank you very much for the chance to read this amazing book! I can't wait to read Book II!
