Book Blast & Giveaway: Triple Love Score by Brandi Megan Granett

Triple Love Score
by Brandi Megan Granett

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Miranda Shane lives a quiet life among books and letters as a professor in a small upstate town. When the playing-by-the-rules poet throws out convention and begins to use a Scrabble board instead of paper to write, she sets off a chain of events that rattles her carefully planned world.

Her awakening propels her to take risks and seize chances she previously let slip by, including a game-changing offer from the man she let slip away. But when the revelation of an affair with a graduate student threatens the new life Miranda created, she is forced to decide between love or poetry.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
“You sure you don’t want to take a cab?” Scott asked her.
“I’m sure. Then we wouldn’t see the diamonds,” Lynn said.
“Tiffany’s?” Miranda asked. “You’re a little young for that aren’t you? Though you are Bunny’s granddaughter.”
“Not like Grandma Bunny’s diamonds! The diamonds on the sidewalk. Look!”
Sure enough, the concrete in front of them sparkled. Four or five runs of sidewalk shimmered with mica flecks, then it went to plain for a block or two, then more that sparkled.
“I want to know what makes them different,” Miranda said to Scott, pointing at the abrupt change from sparkle to non-sparkle on the sidewalk in front of them.
“But knowing the difference would ruin it,” Scott said.
“You’d rather think it was magic?”
“I like the idea of magic. Don’t you?” he asked.
“I don’t take much stock in that,” Miranda said.
“Daddy, look!” Lynn said.
And there in front of them was a huge elephant balloon with a circus ball balancing on his trunk. The ball wasn’t all the way inflated yet; it wobbled a little and the sides of the elephant shuddered some as the helium pumped in. But an elephant as tall as a house at Central Park was a sight to behold no matter the size or amount of helium left to go.  The crowd around them seemed to holding their breath in anticipation as the ball slowly rose.
“See,” Miranda said, “to people watching on television that's magic. But it’s not magic. It’s a year of planning and then people working all night on the day before a family holiday to pull it off.”
“But it’s magic to her,” Scott said.
Lynn strained at the barricade, craning her neck to see down the street and the rest of the balloons staged there.
“Sure, it’s magic to her. She’s a kid. Kids have to believe in magic. When you really grow up, it’s different.”
“I guess I’m not really grown up then,” Scott said. “And maybe I don’t want to be.”
Book Blast & Interview: 51 Love by Jeremy T. Ringfield
51 Love
by Jeremy T. Ringfield
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: New Adult Contemporary Romantic Suspense

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
This story is about Abram, a hopeless romantic who enrolls into college and begins leaving love notes for the girl, Jec, who works at the front desk of his student apartments. About why they know each other when neither have even met. That's right, she had seen his face only two weeks earlier, when he tossed his book bag in the middle of the street, holding up traffic like a mad homeless man. But what she doesn't know is that just before he came to grab his keys to move in, the handsome albeit strange eyes and the person they belong to had just been released from the county jail.
The jail cell talk without any cameras around to record make his last 51 minutes in the pen with a sketchy bunkmate a do or die conversation that may explain why he became homeless, why he wrote the love letters in the first place, and if both were random at all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

It is the guy from the fire pit of whom Bobby was just joking about that is now approaching the front desk where I sit, and my heart rate begins to decrease as I feel the baritone boomp-boomp in my chest getting slower. But I cannot not look away, for he looks as if he got ran over by a train this morning from this closer view and I am not sure what is about to happen next.

I think, have we not already asked what of vanity is so serious? Or is our ultra-modern scientific understanding unresponsive to the inward call of good will? Does it need a new face?

But there is something underneath the wreckage that is dark, and handsome. I’ve got a secret thing for bad boys, and this one looks like just the right amount of danger.

I inhale a deep slow breath of air just before he begins to speak.

“May I ask for the keys of the apartment I am renting please? Here is my check. My name is Abram Wedger and I am two weeks late from my move-in date.”

I let out a long slow breath.

He is gazing directly into my eyes and for a brief moment I felt I knew.

“Of course” I tell him, and then proceed to retrieve the keys to his apartment in the file cabinet. As I turn in my chair, I clumsily knock the pen holder onto the floor, scattering a few pens and pencils. I blush, then kneel to the floor, placing a knee on the ground as I pick up the utensils that are nearer to my front foot. I hastily return the pen holder to the counter trying to save face before walking to the back office and realizing one of my earrings fell out of my ear.

What is wrong with me?

When I return, he is still standing in the exact same spot, facing in the exact same direction, as if stoic in time, space, and emotion. I swiftly pick my earring up off the floor, and place it into my ear lobe.

Review & Giveaway: What You Don't Know by Elka Ray

What You Don't Know: Tales of Obsession, Mystery & Murder in Southeast Asia
by Elka Ray

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Suspense, Short Stories
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

An American lawyer dreams of killing his trophy wife in Thailand. A Vietnamese soldier goes mad in a haunted forest. A bereaved mother's trip to Cambodia ends in tragedy - or does it?

Take a spine-tingling journey from the jungles of Sumatra through Bangkok's seedy bars to the seemingly sedate streets of Singapore. Your traveling companions are a slew of dark emotions - fear, grief, jealousy, greed, lust and revenge. And your destination? What you don't know can hurt you.

With flashes of black humor and hard-to-forget characters, these ten stories shine light into the dark corners of Southeast Asia.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Review:
These ten stories are brief but very intense and engaging, full of suspense and tension. It's impossible to put it down before reading it all. The stories relate to ghosts, murders, betrayals, revenge
Although these stories are short, the characters are well-developed and well-marked, the plts are well-intertwined and complete and all the settings are really fascinating and full of mystery.
I recommend it to anyone who wants to make a suggestive trip in SE Asia.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

“Kyle?” I yell. I’m sure my son is gone, sucked down to the bottom.

Blinking against the blood, I see him lying face down on the deck. He’s got himself wedged against the boat’s sides like a rock climber. I call again and he twists his head. I must look pretty bad, because he gasps. “D—dad?”

The boat is still rocking, but not enough to tip. Water sloshes back and forth. Kyle pushes himself onto his hands and knees. We both look around. Beneath the streaks of rain, the sea is dead calm. No swell. No big whitecaps. Nothing.

“Shit. What happened?” says my son. His face appears bleached. “What was that?”

I’ve been boating in these waters for going on two decades but can’t explain what hit us. If it was the wake from a big cargo ship there’d have been more waves. That wave came from nowhere. Was it a whale? I shake my head. “I…I don’t know,” I say.

The engine has stalled. My hands are shaking so hard I have trouble restarting it. It roars to life once, twice, only to cut out.

"Daaaad! You're flooding it," says Kyle, his voice a hysterical whine. "It won't start! It won't start! You've flooded it!"

I grit my teeth. "Fine, you try."

If he hears, he doesn't respond but just hugs his knees. "My god. My god. She's here. She's here." He says it over and over again.

"Shut up!" I yell, and my son stops. He presses his palms to his cheeks. I force myself to count to ten before trying the motor again, terrified that Kyle's right: If the motor is flooded, we're stuck out here.

Review & Giveaway: Rescued By Love by Melissa Foster

NEW RELEASE….
The Ryders are a series of stand-alone romances that may also be enjoyed as part of the larger Love in Bloom series. These hot contemporary romance novels feature alpha male heroes and sexy, empowered women. They're flawed, funny, passionate, and relatable to readers who enjoy passionate contemporary romance and women's fiction.

In RESCUED BY LOVE...
As the daughter of a world-renowned fashion designer, Addison Dahl enjoyed a privileged life attending the most sought after parties, traveling around the world, and having anything she wanted. Until she broke free and went against her father's wishes, needing to prove to herself--and to him--that she could make it on her own. Now she's ready to take her adventures in a new direction and sets her sights on roughing it in the wilderness.

Jake Ryder followed in his father's footsteps as a top search and rescue professional. He spends his days saving those in need and his nights in the arms of willing women who offer nothing more than a few hours of sexual enjoyment. Just the way he likes it.

When Jake's sister-in-law calls, concerned because she's been unable to reach her best friend, it's up to Jake to find her and bring her home. But Addison isn't lost, and she sure as hell isn't going to be told what to do by an ornery mountain man with whom she'd spent one torrid weekend after her best friend's wedding. Jake has never left anyone behind--will Addison be his first failed rescue?

**CONTENT WARNING: Due to mature content, recommended for readers aged 18+**

My Review
I loved this book, it's full of humor and passion, the chemistry between the two protagonists is really strong and the setting is  amazing,
Addison is the daughter of a famous fashion designer, a possessive father that left no freedom of choice to her and her mother. She is very independent and doesn't want to get married for fear of repeating the mistakes of her parents. She needs a very intriguing and intelligent man but she can't find anyone able to arouse her interest. The only able to succeed seems to be Jake but manages to defeat the desire to Addison's independence?
The characters are adorable and well developed. Jake is sexy and charming, he loves to protect and defend women and her family. He's very romantic even if doesn't like challenging stories but his feelings towards Addy are so overwhelming as to make him change his mind. It was great to see grow and chnge their love story.
It 's a very engaging story, I read the whole book in one sitting, I could not put it down.

Cover Reveal & Giveaway: Dear Agony by Georgia Cates

Tasty Book Tours Presents....

DEAR AGONY
Georgia Cates
Releasing March 1st, 2017

Dear Agony,

You've been my shadow, following me through childhood—filling my days and nights with terror and uncertainty. You cleverly disguised yourself as some form of pain or suffering as I grew into a young woman. We were unwavering companions … until I severed our ties.

I traded homelessness on the streets of New Orleans for a luxurious bed covered by the finest linens.
I traded dumpster diving for dinner in the finest restaurants.
I traded myself to a stranger—Bastien Pascal.
I have a good life within my platonic and mutually beneficial companionship with Bash.
He’s my friend. My mentor. My roommate.
Until everything changes.
I’m not supposed to get goosebumps when his hand brushes my skin.
I’m not supposed to be eager for his soothing touch following one of my nightmares.
I’m not supposed to think about what might happen if I reached out to him in the darkness.
Falling in love with him? Preposterous . . . unavoidable.
Agony, why are you back with a vengeance to rob me of this life I’ve come to love so dearly?
I’m finally happy. Don’t ruin this for me.

Always yours,
Rose

In this epic love story, Dear Agony forges a connection between an unlikely pair—a beautiful rose entwined in barbed wire and a shipwreck sinking into the darkest depths of the ocean. This agonizing romantic novel poses some gut-wrenching questions: What does a woman do when the man she loves is planning his own demise? And how far will she go to give him something to live for?

Georgia Cates resides in rural Mississippi with her wonderful husband, Jeff, and their two beautiful daughters. She spent fourteen years as a labor and delivery nurse before she decided to pursue her dream of becoming an author and hasn’t looked back yet.

When she’s not writing, she’s thinking about writing. When she’s being domestic, she’s listening to her music and visualizing scenes for her current work in progress. Every story coming from her always has a song to inspire it.

the-elusive-elixir-cover

The Elusive Elixir

(mystery / paranormal mystery) Release date: January 8, 2017 at Midnight Ink ISBN: 978-0738742366 336 pages

SYNOPSIS

Dorian Robert-Houdin, the three-and-a-half-foot gargoyle chef who fancies himself a modern-day Poirot, is slowly turning into stone, and it’s up to Zoe Faust to unravel the alchemical secrets that can save him. When they discover that a long-lost stone gargoyle with a connection to Dorian has reappeared in Europe, the stakes are even higher. From Portland to Paris, Zoe searches for the hidden knowledge she needs, but a cold case that harkens back to 1942 throws her off course. With an ailing friend desperately trying to discover his own elixir of life and a new romantic interest offering the first chance at love she’s had in nearly a century, Zoe is torn between a dangerous form of alchemy and her desire for a safer life.

My Review

I have read the first two books of this series and I couldn't wait to read the third episode. Lovable and funny characters, an intriguing storyline, interesting elements of alchemy and really fascinating setting: it was a very enjoyable read.
Zoe absolutely must save her friend Dorian, is a gargoyle that threatens to turn into stone without losing its vital functions. To do this she is to go back to Paris, the city she left in 1942 and in which she had lived peacefully for many years. Unfortunately a lady remembers her, recognizes her and thinks that she is a witch: how can it be the same after many years? Zoe tries to convince her that that woman was her grandmother but she doesn't believe her. Indeed she thinks Zoe is a killer, had killed her co-worker. Zoe must fight to save her friend, uncover the truth and protect her privacy.
It 's a very engaging story, once you start it's really hard to put it down.
You can be read as a standalone but for a greater liking of the story suggest you read the series in order.
Highly recommended for those who love the cozy mystery, alchemy and Paris.

Review & Giveaway: To Find a Viking Treasure By Gina Conkle

To Find a Viking Treasure
By Gina Conkle

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Historical Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Survival’s in his blood…

Rough-souled Brandr’s ready for a new life far from Uppsala, but the Viking has a final task —protect the slave, Sestra. Her life's full of hardship…until she learns the location of a treasure. With war coming, stealing the enemy's riches will save lives, but only one man can defend her —the fierce Viking scout, Brandr.

The two have always traded taunts, now they must share trust. Passions flare as secrets unfold, leading one to make a daring sacrifice on their quest To Find a Viking Treasure

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Review:
I loved this historical romance, the author is very careful to detail and has made a great historical reconstruction. I got to know a lot about the daily life and battles of Vikings.
Brandr is a Viking grumpy and lonely. His only entertainment is teasing Sestra. She is a slave, working at an inn waiting to leave with her new master. Her life has always been very difficult until she has dicovered where a treasure is hidden. She needs the help of a brave warrior to find it to change her life. Brandr is perfect and he also needs this treasure.
I love this couple, their dialogues are brilliant and sparkling. She is a very strong woman and he is a brave and awesome warrior.
It 's a book really well written, very flowing, the plot kept me on edge from start to finish. I was excited each time I got to turn the page. It 's a romantic story, passionate but full of action and adventure.
This was my first time reading a book by this author and I can say with complete certainty that it will not be my last!
I recommend it to anyone who loves historical romances.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

Icy water drenched her, the cold droplets prickling tender skin. Blood flowed like hot honey through her sluggish limbs. She slipped one hand under Brandr’s muddy tunic, and hard male flesh pebbled against her fingertips.

Brandr broke the kiss, his breath hitching sharply. His mouth hovered over hers as if the enthralling inch between their lips fed a deep need.

He didn’t move, save his shaky grip on her arm. “Your hand...”

His firm flesh twitched under her palm.

Was the hard-souled warrior starved for touch?

Foreheads and noses brushed as she pushed his tunic up determined to have her way. They still stood in the waterfall's mist not caring that they mere steps from the cliff. Dirt smeared Brandr’s furrowed midline. Taking her time, she wiped it off and a weave of muscles and smooth skin clenched against her hand. Enveloped in darkness, her senses came alive, touching a ridged scar on his chest, smelling pine on his skin, the uneven cadence of his voice as he whispered her name against her lips.

A fresh grew, the want to be closer. She sought the curve of his ribs, sliding her hands to his back—

“Sestra. No.” Brandr jerked away, his voice ragged. He held her at arm’s length.

“Why…why’d you stop?”

It was all she could do to form the question. She still tasted him on her tongue when he let her go. The waterfall crashed behind her its blast matching the uproar inside her.

Brandr tugged down his tunic. “This isn’t safe.”

“Dead men don’t care that we’re kissing.”

He chuckled dryly and picked up his sword from the mud. “No,” he said, wiping the weapon clean before sheathing it across his back. “You're soaked. Those clothes of yours need to come off.”

“Most men say that come nightfall,” she teased. “The clothes coming off part.”

He went still. “I’m not most men.”

Wet black hair fell around his face, the jaggedly cut ends grazing his jaw. Though it was nightfall, she saw Brandr clearly. The rough-hewn Viking stood like a wild beast in a rare tame moment. His tarnished silver eyes pierced her, left her tongue-tied because she put him with other men who used thralls for their pleasure.

What stopped him?
